Water Meter Testing
Coulter Services Inc. uses testing equipment specifically designed for the accuracy verification
of all makes and models of mechanical and electromagnetic flow meters.
For municipalities, the importance to routinely test industrial, commercial and institutional, ("ICI") water
meters has increased significantly due to the increased costs to deliver potable water. These costs are
attributable to substantial capital investment in infrastructure to meet MOEE regulations, mandatory
verification of equipment used in the process of treating water, increased reporting requirements,
dwindling water reserves, ongoing water auditing/unaccounted for water calculations, user pay billing
practices, avoiding and /or resolving customer complaints. Lastly, the as yet to be determined
requirements to be imposed by Measurement Canada regarding service periods for "ICI" water meters.
As a general rule, "ICI" meters account for less than 30% of the meter population but account for over 70%
of the measured consumption. Consequently, assurances that this segment of a meter population is in proper
working order has become critical to all aspects of best practice policies for water distribution system operators.
On the production side, verification of raw and treated water throughput is mandated in the MOEE permits
and licenses. Coulter can provide the service ensuring your compliance.
Where the corporate and commercial sector employ private meters, Coulter can provide full testing, repair and
calibration services for all your metering needs.
